The Drowned World Tour signed Madonna's return on stage after 8 years, years in wich she preferred to dedicate herself to motherwhood and marriage.
The tour opened in Barcelona to end up three months later in Los Angeles. It only visited some european countries and some U.S.A. venues.
But the show itself was really outstanding. It consisted of five costumes-stage changes all very theatrical
and evocative. It started with a punkish futiristic blade runner insipred segment where Madonna also played electric giutar for the first time ever on stage!
Then was time for the Japanese 'Memories of a geisha' inspired stage...very touching!
The rodeo girl was one of the highlight of the whole gig for sure with amazing coreographies and a mechanical bull on stage.
As usual in Madonna's shows there was a Spanish latino part, with Evita reminescence for sure, you can see her in a wonderful tango or palying acustic guitar on a very calm version of 'La isla bonita'.
All ended with a ghetto superduper dance performance with Cruella Devil's inspired fur.
The costumes this time were designed by differents stilists like: Dean & Dan, Jean Paul Gualtier and Arianne Phillips.
In the U.S.A. was time for a costume change in her punkish performance (she wore a different skirt) and also for a setlist chance: in some of the gigs infact she played 'You'll see' insted of 'Gone'.
The Tour was marred by the disaster of the 11th of September, and Madonna donated the profits from the final three shows in Los Angeles to the children of the victims of the attacks.
Madonna's old friend Rosie O'Donnel took wonderful pix during one of the show, and Madonna herself decided to use one of them for the cover of the vhs/dvd release of the tour!
